Are Your Habits Working For You… or Against You?

Howdy there!

Tonight I’m tucked into bed — the weather’s wet and windy.

My kind of weather.

And I find myself thinking about something simple… but important.

Routines.

We all have them.

The things we do every morning.
The things we do every night before bed.

But here’s the question…

Do you actually recognise your routine?

The other day I walked into my house and immediately noticed it.

It wasn’t as tidy as I like it.
Didn’t even smell the way I like it to.

And I paused.

What caused that?

Excuses.

Not the loud, obvious ones.

The quiet ones.

“I’ve been working late…”
“I haven’t had time…”
“I’ll do it tomorrow…”

And the truth is — most of them are valid.

But valid doesn’t mean helpful.

Because those small, reasonable excuses?

They slowly lead you somewhere you don’t actually want to be.

So I made a decision.

Nothing dramatic.

Just simple.

My home will be clean.
My space will feel good to come back to.

And funny enough…

The time I “didn’t have” suddenly appeared.

Just one small task every evening.

That’s it.

Consistency over intensity.

And slowly, my space started becoming what I wanted it to be again — a place I enjoy.

That’s when it clicked for me.

When something truly matters to you…

You make it happen.

No matter what.

So now I pay attention.

Not just to what I say I want — but to what my habits are actually building.

Because your daily disciplines?

They’re either working for you…

Or against you.

There was a time I’d end my evenings with TV, scrolling, just passing time.

And honestly… it wasn’t doing much for me.

Now?

I end my evenings differently.

A book.
Something that stretches my thinking.
Something that pours back into me.

And I can feel the difference.

So take a moment and ask yourself:

What do your mornings look like?
What do your evenings look like?

Are they building you…
Or slowly draining you?

“Your habits are quietly shaping your life — whether you’re paying attention or not.”

If you could change just one habit…

What would it be?

Now go and change it 🙂
