Self Love: Why People Don’t Talk About it
I was once binge watching on a show (you can judge me later) – the show is love is blind.
It is an experiment to see if you can fall in love with someone without seeing them – just by talking to them over a wall, and then propose and marry them within 3 weeks or something like that.
So one of the girls after going through the courting, proposal and day of their wedding….she said No and she said she chose herself….
Wondered what that meant – I choose myself, was this a selfish move?
It’s later you realise you’ve got to choose your happiness over someone else’s, because if you are not happy you can’t make someone else happy so you choose you! She Chose to remain single rather than living with someone who seemed controlling and well was not that into her. She chose her over that situation.
Self Love: often times is ridiculed and considered selfish…
Until you understand truly and deeply what it means then you will choose you over everything else, because by choosing you, you will create a better you and that creates a harmony around the people you care. You are your best when you have looked after yourself and people (the Right People) are then drawn to that.
Self love is the act of valuing and caring for yourself, both emotionally and physically. It means treating yourself with kindness and compassion, and recognizing your own worth and value as a person.
One example of self love is setting boundaries. This means learning to say no to things that do not serve you and protecting your time and energy for the things that do. Another example is practicing self-care, such as getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.
Self love is also about accepting and loving yourself for who you are, flaws and all. This means embracing your unique qualities and talents, and not comparing yourself to others. It also means being kind to yourself when you make mistakes, and learning from them rather than beating yourself up.
The importance of self love cannot be overstated. When we love and care for ourselves, we are better able to show up in the world as our best selves. We are more resilient, more confident, and better able to form healthy relationships with others. Without self love, we are more likely to engage in negative self-talk, self-destructive behaviors, and to attract negative relationships in our life.
In short, self love is about treating yourself with kindness and respect, and recognizing your own worth and value as a person. It is a crucial aspect of overall well-being and is essential for living a fulfilling and meaningful life. Make time to practice self love every day, no matter how small it may be.
Remember that self love is not a destination, but a journey.
